Well, this didn’t last long. I’ve registered a domain to use for the blog and have it setup at the following address: http://www.90sboxbreaks.com. Update your links and bookmarks as that will be the permanent spot for my box breaks and such. See you there!

A Quick Update
A few things to mention quick:
First, I’m still working on my next “Spotlight” article. I just have to figure out what card set/insert set I want to use.
Second, I’ve been receiving quite a few boxes and as time permits, I will post the breaks. I may/may not get one last break in this month, it just depends on how much time I have.
Last, I’m going to posting a page with all available inserts that I’ve pulled from the box breaks. If you see one or more that you would like, feel free to email me and I will be more than happy to help out. All I ask in return is a thank you for the card(s), nothing more. Simple, no?
1994 Donruss Series 1
Price: $20 shipped
Packs: 36, 13 cards per pack
Cards for set: 327/330, 99% complete
Duplicates: 97
Rating: 4/5
1994 was a year I will never forget. Not only was I finally a teenager and trying to show my parents I was responsible enough to earn more privileges, it was also the year that Disney released one of it’s best animated movies (The Lion King, of course), as well as the year baseball fans won’t soon forget. I’m talking about the infamous baseball strike, which shortened the season and killed the chance for the Indians to possibly win it all (or any other team that seemed to be having a mythically great season). And lastly, it seems that card manufacturers had a wakeup call from the previous year and started to improve the quality of their products.
Voting time
I have all 3 boxes in hand but want to know what you would like to see next. Poll will run until Sunday night, and the results will be posted early next week.
Update (02/15/2009): voting is now closed. It was a tie between Donruss Series 1 and Donruss Series 2 (both from 1994), and so I will do Series 1 first. I can’t believe I had 17 votes…about 16 more than I was expecting. Guess I must be doing something right, huh?
1993 Flair
Price: $21 shipped
Packs: 24, 10 cards per pack
Cards for set: 173/300; 58% complete
Duplicates: 61
Rating: 4/5
1993 marked yet another release of super premium cards, but this time, they didn’t cost $25/pack. Fleer introduced the 1993 Premiere Edition of Flair, which was described as “The unique set for those with a special Flair for the game”.
Unique, it was. Each box contained 24 packs, with 10 cards in each pack. However, each pack was actually a shrink-wrapped “mini box”, and the cards inside were also shrink wrapped. Talk about paying attention to detail; it seems this was an early attempt at tamper-proof packs, or it was a very clever way to package the product to gain attention. Either way, the concept worked.
